“By the end of this year, you better have a boyfriend.”
Happy Belated Valentine’s Day Everyone!
This is what my mom said to me, said with such “motherly-authority” that it was an order. You should have saw my face. I think my mouth was open. Yes mom, I will get a boyfriend because you said so.
I appreciate that she cares about my happiness, although my happiness should come from me but she can’t help it. First comes man, marriage and then baby, it’s the final step to Womanhood in all mothers’ fantasies and even for lots of women. I admit it, I feel like this only on Thursdays and Saturdays.
It’s not that I don’t want a boyfriend, it’s something you can’t force, you know. The process has to be organic, even orgasmic and has to radiate something gigantic or maybe I’m asking for too much. My own girlish fantasies! For some reason, for some of us, when we get involved with someone, we lose ourselves trying to meet the other person’s conditions. We are in a relationship because we fear losing the person as oppose to loving them freely because it makes you feel good. I say you have already lost them if that is the case. A part of this too has to do with speaking your mind and knowing how much you are worth. (Price tag: Priceless!)
LOVE. A simple concept but still not many know what it truly means. Love is to set the lover free, not to put the lover in prison or else it’s not love, it’s prison! At times, we are with people not because of love but to learn something or to have a companion for your journey. Whatever the reason, just be honest with yourself. Honesty is the best policy!
Will I have a boyfriend? Who knows!
Whatever happens, my independence, my intellect and my heart shall not be compromised.
